Our mission:
eStart was established as a means to combat market behaviour that has been described by Lisbon Mayor, Fernando Medina as “predatory”.
The online service industry has seen an exponential growth in profits since the pandemic began. Whilst this looks great for the industry, it begs the question, “at what cost?” As it turns out, the cost is high. As online service market leaders bathe in the continuous revenue stream that has ceased to slow since the outbreak of COVID-19, many small business owners are feeling worse off than ever. This is because many online service providers are charging extortionate prices for businesses to incorporate online ordering into their day-to-day business practices (something which has not just been a life-line for small business owners, but also compulsory for their long-term survival). Online market leaders are charging up to 35% commission on all online orders made, leaving many business owners out-of-pocket.
Here at eStart4, we did some calculations and found that if the average customer was to pay 15€/day for a whole month (31 days), then the restaurant would be losing 5,25€ on each order. This means that the restaurant would be losing 162,75€/month for ONE customer. As such, eStart4 wanted to find a way to mitigate these fluctuating additional costs that restaurant owners must endure with the current market leaders, and thus launched its own online ordering system with 0% commission, fixed-costs, and no hidden fees to ensure that the price you see is the price you pay. Therefore, business owners can better evaluate how much money they will be spending each month on online deliveries and not become a victim to the “predatory” behaviour exhibited by other services.
Why is eStart needed now?
A variety of factors have caused the rapid decline in customer engagement between merchants and their customer base. The most pertinent factor has undoubtedly been the sudden and rapid spread of COVID-19, and its subsequent effects on businesses as they manoeuvre their way around the plethora of constraints brought about by the pandemic. Life after COVID-19 will never be the same again for business owners, as the way we previously conducted business has been forced to evolve to ensure its long-term survival.
